General

Dear Engineering Students,
I am Shankar, did my M.Tech in Power and Control from IIT Kanpur, B.Tech from JNTU Kakinada Campus and Diploma from Andhra Polytechnic Kakinada.
I worked in General Electric, Hyderabad for 6 years in the field of renewable energy sources. At present, delivering number of lectures in the field of power electronics (since 2007) and delivered lectures in Control systems as well (in the past) especially for GATE/ESE/PSUs. This blog is to explore the various opportunities for electrical engineering students especially preparing for competitive exams. I would like to utilize this blog as platform to share information as much as I can and requesting the continuous feed back for the improvement. I am maintaining this blog after my busy schedule as part of social service and giving back something to the society. If you like it, you can also be part of it

Interview tips for PSUs

Dear All,
In this time, you may receive interview calls from various PSUs if you have good GATE 2017 score.
Based on my knowledge and experience, here I am giving you few tips to be followed before you attend any PSU interview:
  1. Prepare a justified reason to explain your gap after B.Tech, One year or smaller gap may not be big questions. But, a justified & transparent answer is expected.
  2. Review your degree (either B.Tech or M.Tech) project, summer training work and previous/current job profile (if any), prepare brief points to answer.
  3. Revise main/basic technical subjects from your branch, especially those from which you feel are applied in that particular PSU. Focus more on definitions, principles, and applications of the subjects. Focus more on technical subjects and do not forget to revise more.
  4. GD is round is one of the important round hence prepare some traditional and contemporary topics for GD. Speak confidently and don't be nervous. Do some practice of GD by forming group of friends and rehearse it.
  5. Do not be over confident, try to balance your views, give transparent and relevant answers in interview.
  6.  Do not argue with board members and too much discussion on personal/family problems. Do not bluff the board.
  7. When you attending PSU interviews, Do not show much interest in ESE/IAS/M.Tech rather than express your desire to work in PSUs in techno managerial jobs. Explore more about the PSU for which you are facing interview.
  8. Prepare your academic back ground, hobbies, interests, strengths and weaknesses related questions properly. Thoroughly read the news papers of last few days before interview and watch news in TV to update yourself with the latest happenings in the country.
  9. Do not try to depict sympathy by reflecting your poor background / backwardness / rural background, rather be confident and reflect that you are capable of fighting with such problems/issues
  10. Do not talk against the constitutional provisions, show integrity towards nation and willingness to work for nation and society.
  11. Give a solid justified reason to join that particular PSU.
  12. You should be cheerful and interactive during the interview and not over excited. Make a proper eye contact with the panel. Go with neat dress. After interview thank the panel and walk out confidently.
