Dear Engineering Students,
I am Shankar, did my M.Tech in Power and Control from IIT Kanpur, B.Tech from JNTU Kakinada Campus and Diploma from Andhra Polytechnic Kakinada. I worked in General Electric, Hyderabad for 6 years in the field of renewable energy sources. At present, delivering number of lectures in the field of power electronics (since 2007) and delivered lectures in Control systems as well (in the past) especially for GATE/ESE/PSUs. This blog is to explore the various opportunities for electrical engineering students especially preparing for competitive exams. I would like to utilize this blog as platform to share information as much as I can and requesting the continuous feed back for the improvement. I am maintaining this blog after my busy schedule as part of social service and giving back something to the society. If you like it, you can also be part of it

National Youth Day

Dear All,
Today is "SWAMI VIVEKANANDA's" 153rd birth day. On this occasion, different celebrities are giving so many suggestions to youth for the development of individuals and country
Even though, I am not a celebrity, I would like to share few lines to my student community from my favorite book 'The 7 habits of highly effective people' by Stephen R. Covey

A personal mission statement focuses on what you want to be (character) and to do (contributions and achievements) and the value or principles upon which being and doing are based
  1. Succeed at home first
  2. Seek and merit divine help
  3. Never compromise with honesty
  4. Remember the people involved
  5. Hear both sides before judging
  6. Obtain counsel of others 
  7. Defend those who are absent
  8. Be sincere yet decisive
  9. Develop one new proficiency every year  
  10. Plan tomorrow's work today
  11. Hustle while you wait
  12. Maintain a positive attitude
  13. Keep a sense of humor
  14. Be orderly in person and in work
  15. Do not fear mistakes - fear only the absence of creative, constructive, and corrective responses to those mistakes

  18.  Concentrate on all abilities and efforts on the task at hand, not worrying about the next job or promotion or exam results
My dear students, I will suggest everyone to self evaluate how many qualities you have and how to improve.

ESE 2017 Changes - My analysis

Dear All,
As you all are aware about that UPSC revise Scheme and Syllabus for Engineering Services from 2017 on wards. In this regard, it is quite natural that students will get so many doubts and confusions.
As a teacher, it is my responsibility to address them.

ESE 2017 - New pattern

UPSC revised the patter and syllabus for Engineering Services examination for 2017 onward

Major changes:
  1. Two stage written exam (Prelims - Objective and Mains - Conventional) and then Personality test
  2. Detailed syllabus for General Studies and Engineering aptitude is given (I didn't see English)
  3.  Three new subjects are introduced in Electrical Engineering
    1. Engineering mathematics (only for EE)
    2. Computer fundamentals
    3. Systems and signal processing
  4. One subject is removed 
    1. Communication engineering as a separate subject (but few concepts are present in Analog and Digital electronics subject)
    Note: These changes will be applicable from ESE - 2017
    ESE - 2016 with old pattern only (Notification date: 27.02.2016)
